Age Minimum (with Adult): 25+, Minimum Age:25+

Mentor Youth Ages 12-16 with the Isaiah:43 program

Mentors needed for youth ages 10-18 in Catholic Charities Isaiah: 43 program. Isaiah 43 is a parenting and mentoring program that provides services to families, church parishes, and communities that strengthen their capacities for peacebuilding. Created in partnership with the Archdiocese of New Orleans, Isaiah 43 is rooted in Judeo-Christian values and teachings. Youth and families are empowered to be peacemakers, to be active in promoting peace in their neighborhoods, and to live by the values of love, peace, and forgiveness. The program engages youth and parents to encourage peaceful conflict resolution, skillful communication, constructive discipline, forgiveness, and leadership development.

Isaiah 43’s mentoring program pairs youth ages 10-18 with mentors for a yearlong one-on-one relationship.

Based on national best practices, the mentoring program helps to address the emotional and spiritual needs of young people by giving them a safe and supportive environment for positive development to occur. Over 12 months, mentees will meet with their mentors about 4 hours each month in both group and individual settings.

Group activities throughout the year focus on building community, strengthening relationships, exploring relevant issues, goal setting, and reinforcing Christian values.

One-on-one activities allow the mentee and mentor to develop a relationship, share new experiences and have fun together.

Mentors must be 25 years old, successfully complete mentor training and screening, and able to commit one year to the program. They also need a letter of reference from the priest or pastor of their church.
